Building a sustainable Travel industry in Norway

We plan on doing this by being grounded in the communities where we operate, staying in-tune with and protecting the wildlife and nature we love to show off, and providing equitable and safe environments for our staff and guests.

We are proud of our big goals

100%

of daughter companies to be Eco-lighthouse certified

#1

Leader in employee satisfaction in the tourism industry

75%

of vehicles be 0 emission by 2028

The proof is in the badge

We received the Eco-lighthouse certification for most of our companies and continue to work on earning the credential of approval on the rest. The criteria that must be met are developed by relevant government bodies, scientific communities and other relevant groups identifying and addressing environmental aspects in our industry. We also must provide an annual climate and environmental report that addresses both internal and external measures.
This also means that we are in line with the UNWTO’s definition of responsible tourism. We take full account of our current and future social, economic, and environmental impacts and address the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment, and the host communities.

We are happy to do this work because this is also our home.

Sustainability through Social Responsibility

- People

Here at Norwegian Travel, we see and care for each other, make a difference, and think of those who come after us.

  • We seek to have healthy working relationships with our staff, customers, and the communities where we operate.
  • We follow laws and guidelines to ensure a healthy working environment and offer fair and equal salaries to our staff.

What does this mean?

It means that we believe that doing well is related to doing good and we want to make a positive difference for those who come after us.

Create value, be genuine, and care for each other.

We are happy to do this work.

This is our approach to Economic Responsibility. We focus on sustainable growth that leads to year-round operations that produces an economically viable industry that gives value to everyone involved. From our local community and our customers to our collogues and owners, everyone is a part of and benefits from our developing tourism industry in Norway.

Creating value through Economic Responsibility

- Company

Our most important value is precisely to create value. For our owners, colleagues, customers, and the local community we have the pleasure of being a part of.

  • We focus on sustainable growth that leads to all-year-round operations and gives value to everyone in the supply chain.
  • We are developing tourism in Norway towards a professional, economically viable industry.

To work in Norwegian Travel is to be part of a unique journey with others. It commits and sets high standards on how individuals and teams work with each other and all those we meet on our voyage. Our values are in the heart, mind, and bones of every one of us.

Create value, be genuine, and care for each other.

Being a force of environmental Responsibility

- Nature & Animals

Visitors from all over the world come to us to experience clean and almost untouched nature. It is our foremost resource, and we shall take care of it.

  • We leave gentle footprints and seek to preserve natural areas, wildlife, and habitats, and minimize impact.
  • Huskies and reindeers are our four-legged colleagues, and we practice within responsible animal tourism guidelines.
  • We have great respect for the whales which choose to come here every year, and we do our best to take care of them.

We minimize our carbon footprint, are resource efficient, and work towards being a leader in environmental responsibility within the travel industry.

We also practice responsible animal tourism guidelines. See the “How we do it” section below to learn more.

How can you help?

When you’re in Norway, and especially when you are enjoying Norway with Norwegian Travel or it’s daughter companies, we assume that you will care and respect our nature as much as we do.

Pick up after yourself. If you see litter, pick it up and take it with you to dispose of responsibly. Basically, keep nature as it’s meant to be.

Together we can keep a beautiful
and balanced Norway
