Building a more sustainable travel industry in Norway
Our destinations are built around some of Norway’s most valuable natural and cultural landscapes. We believe tourism should create positive and lasting value – for local communities, for visitors, and for future generations.
We work to achieve this by staying closely connected to the communities where we operate, protecting the nature and wildlife that define our destinations, and creating safe, inclusive, and fair environments for both guests and employees.
Several of our companies are certified through the Norwegian Eco-Lighthouse scheme, and we continue working towards certification across the rest of the organisation. The certification criteria are developed by government bodies, scientific communities, and industry experts to ensure measurable environmental standards and continuous improvement. As part of this work, we also report annually on climate and environmental measures across our operations.
Our approach aligns with the principles of responsible tourism as defined by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). We aim to balance environmental, social, and economic responsibility while supporting the needs of visitors, employees, local communities, and the destinations themselves.

Sustainability through social responsibility
For us, sustainability is not only about the environment – it is also about people. We believe strong destinations are built by people who care for each other. We strive to create healthy and respectful working relationships with our employees, guests, partners, and local communities. We follow laws and guidelines that ensure safe working conditions, fair treatment, and equal opportunities throughout our organisation. Long-term success is created by acting responsibly, contributing positively to society, and building something future generations can be proud of.
Creating value through economic responsibility
Our goal is to build sustainable, year-round tourism destinations that create long-term value for everyone involved.
We focus on developing experiences and destinations that support local jobs, strengthen regional businesses, and contribute to economically sustainable communities. From employees and partners to guests, suppliers, and owners – everyone plays an important role in the continued development of Norwegian tourism.
Creating value is one of our most important principles. We believe sustainable growth should benefit both the people who visit our destinations and the communities that call them home.
Working with us means being part of a shared journey built on collaboration, responsibility, and high standards. Our values guide how we work with each other, our guests, and the environments around us: create value, be genuine, and care for each other.

Environmental responsibility
Visitors from around the world come to experience Norway’s clean, dramatic, and largely untouched nature. Protecting it is one of our greatest responsibilities.
We work to minimise our environmental footprint by preserving natural areas, protecting wildlife and habitats, and operating with care and respect for the environments where we work.
We are committed to reducing emissions, improving resource efficiency, and continuously strengthening our environmental practices. Our ambition is to contribute to a more responsible and sustainable travel industry – while ensuring future generations can experience the same nature that inspires visitors today.
