In this bundle:

Activity 1: Whale & Arctic Wildlife Safari

Cruise with us to the whale sighting area along the coast of Northern Norway. Enjoy the Arctic scenery along the way and get to observe the wildlife in their natural habitat. The humpback and killer whales migrate to Northern Norway, along the coast of Troms to feed on the Atlantic herring throughout the winter months (mid-October until the end of January). During these months, we organize Whale & Arctic Wildlife Safari from Tromsø by boat. Our catamaran departs from the harbour of Tromsø center. The direction and duration of the tour will depend on the weather conditions and the most probable whale sightings. Some days we need to travel up to three hours to reach the whale sighting area. The journey by boat offers scenic views as we cruise between islands and fjords with an amazing mountain backdrop. Once we have spotted the whales, we spend as much time as possible in the sighting area. We drift along with the whales during this time, and we gently follow their path with awareness of our presence in their natural environment.

The duration of the tour is from 5 up to 7 hours. Our boat is spacious with a comfortable, warm lounge with panoramic windows, a small kiosk, lavatories, and several outside decks.

Note:

- We cannot guarantee whale sightings as we depend on marine life in their natural habitat on this wildlife tour. Sighting might also be affected by difficult weather conditions.

- If you don't see any whales on your tour, you can book a second tour for free. (Subject to availability on the next tour)

- Keep in mind that the weather in the Arctic can be rough. If becoming seasick is your concern, we recommend taking seasickness medicine half an hour before the tour starts.

Meeting Time & Place: 08:45 at the harbourside of Kystens Hus, Stortorget 1, Tromsø.

Activity 2: Choose between

Option 1: Fun & Easy Dogsledding in Breivikeidet

Drive your own team of huskies! This is an experience out of the ordinary and a must-do for anyone visiting Northern Norway. The dog sled has been used for centuries throughout the Arctic region, mainly for travel, hunting, and transportation. Now it’s your chance to get closer to the raw Arctic nature and try this adventurous way of travel. For this tour, you can choose from 2 departure times every day (8:15 or 10:05)
All tours depart outside the Scandic Ishavshotel where you will be picked up for a scenic 50-minute transfer to our camp in Breivikeidet. We also offer pickup from Tromsø Camping on the 08:15 departure (all season) and the 10:05 departure (only in high season, December 19 – March 19).

Upon arrival at our camp in Breivikeidet, situated in a picturesque valley close to the sea, you will be welcomed by our friendly staff. We will provide you with polar-insulated suits, boots, hats, and mittens before heading out on the dogsledding adventure.
Before meeting the huskies, your guide will go through the safety instructions and show you the basics of driving the sled. You don’t need any previous experience: after listening carefully to the demonstration and a few minutes of practice, you’ll enjoy driving on the open fields and inside the forest trails.
Two people will share one sled: one as a driver and the other one as a passenger, and you will get the chance to swap places halfway through the tour, so everyone gets to experience the life of a dog musher, but also have time take all the photographs they want.
After your dog sledding ride and arriving back at the camp, you’ll get the chance to strengthen your bond with your newly made furry friends that had helped you through your adventure and give and receive all the cuddles that you can handle. And once you say farewell to your four-legged companions, you are invited into our lavvo (a traditional Sami tent), where you can learn a lot more about the dogs from our knowledgeable guides around a campfire and over some hot drinks and cake. And once you changed back to your normal clothes from the polar suits, and waved one last goodbye to the huskies, you’ll be driven back to the city with an experience of a lifetime behind you and spectacular photos to show for it!

Included:

  • Transfers by bus from and back to Tromsø
  • English-speaking guide
  • Winter overall suit, boots, mittens, hat
  • Hot drinks & cake

Meeting Time and Place: 8:00 or 09:50 at Scandic Ishavshotel Tromsø.

Option 2: Snowmobiling Daytime at Camp Tamok

Join us for an unforgettable snowmobile safari above the Arctic Circle! At our wilderness center Camp Tamok, only a 90-minute scenic drive from Tromsø you can experience the magical winter landscape and the fun of snowmobiling. Upon arrival, you will be directed to the equipment room, where you will be provided with warm clothes and shoes for the day. Here you can also leave anything you don’t need on the tour. We will go through our safety instructions and give practical demonstrations on how to drive the snowmobile.
You will drive in pairs with one driver and one passenger per snowmobile and have plenty of opportunities to switch places during the two-hour snowmobiling adventure between the snow-covered mountains to a frozen lake. Lake Finn marks the halfway point of our snowmobiling adventure and is a good place to take photos and play in the snow.
After driving back down the trail and parking the snowmobiles, we will serve you a hot meal in a traditional North Norwegian setting around the open fire in a reindeer herder’s tent. After relaxing and warming up, it is time to head back to Tromsø and tick another adventure off your bucket list!

Note: In order to drive the snowmobile, you need to be minimum 18 years old and hold a valid driver's license. Children below the age of 7 are not allowed. Each child must be accompanied by an adult.
