Join us to the Sommarøy archipelago, a beautiful destination for sea kayaking thanks to its secluded white sandy beaches, turquoise waters and a backdrop of spectacular mountains.
To get a close and personal experience, there is no better way than to jump in a drysuit, take a sea kayak and quietly paddle around yourself. Explore the islands from water level, enjoy lunch on a secluded beach and just marvel at the breathtaking vistas. Just remember to always be on the lookout for winged or finned marine life – who knows when you might spot a majestic sea eagle or a friendly porpoise?
The tour leaves from Tromsø city center where you will be picked up and taken on a scenic drive to the island of Sommarøy. On the way, we make a quick stop at Hella, a popular historical area along the coast. Here you receive a lunch package to bring with you on the kayak tour.
Upon arrival at Sommarøy, our guide will give you thorough instructions on the practice of kayaking before heading out to sea. All kayak equipment will be provided by us: life jacket, paddle and kayak, dry suit if needed. As a standard, you will be given a sturdy double kayak but if you can document a previous experience, you might choose a single kayak as well.
Our experienced kayak guides, local and well educated on the area, will explain and tell you lots of stories while paddling around the islands and searching for wildlife. During the tour, we will take a lunch break on one of the many secluded beaches around.
After the tour, you will be driven back to Tromsø.
This tour is available on Saturdays in the period between 15th June - 15th August.
Note! We provide sturdy double kayaks, but if you can document a previous experience, you may choose a single kayak. Be aware our sea kayaks are enclosed (tight fit) which can limit the leg space.
