Activity 1: Northern Lights Photo Cruise
On a clear night in Tromsø city, you don't need to travel far to observe the Northern Lights. Joining an evening cruise is undoubtedly the most comfortable way. Our crew will be navigating to the stellar sky above the fjords of Tromsø island. Our boats lay right by the quayside of Kystens Hus in Tromsø center. Our crew will welcome you aboard for our Northern Lights Photo Cruise. As soon as we set the course, our guide will show you the ship's amenities, the deck and indoor space, lavatories, safety equipment, and refreshments and invite you to listen to Northern Lights stories in the lounge. You may also enjoy the freedom to roam around the spacious outdoor deck or unwind indoors with a cup of coffee or tea.
Of course, we can't offer guarantees since the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon. Still, we promise to use all our experience to maximize our chances of a successful chase in this comfortable setting for observing them. The course we set will depend on the weather forecast, and the cloud-free sky will define if you are going to see the Northern Lights. Once the conditions are right, the captain will slow down the boat, slowly drifting along with the current. The guide will help you set up your camera, and when the Northern Lights start to dance, he will offer to take photos for you.
For this tour, we might use one of our three boats: MS Aurora Explorer (max. 145 pax), MS Leone (max 12 pax), MS Strønstad (max 30 pax).

Activity 2: Choose between
Option 1: Fun & Easy Dogsledding in Breivikeidet
Drive your own team of huskies! This is an experience out of the ordinary and a must-do for anyone visiting Northern Norway. The dog sled has been used for centuries throughout the Arctic region, mainly for travel, hunting, and transportation. Now it’s your chance to get closer to the raw Arctic nature and try this adventurous way of travel. For this tour, you can choose from 2 departure times every day (8:15 or 10:05)
All tours depart outside the Scandic Ishavshotel where you will be picked up for a scenic 50-minute transfer to our camp in Breivikeidet. We also offer pickup from Tromsø Camping on the 08:15 departure (all season) and the 10:05 departure (only in high season, December 19 – March 19).
Upon arrival at our camp in Breivikeidet, situated in a picturesque valley close to the sea, you will be welcomed by our friendly staff. We will provide you with polar-insulated suits, boots, hats, and mittens before heading out on the dogsledding adventure.
Before meeting the huskies, your guide will go through the safety instructions and show you the basics of driving the sled. You don’t need any previous experience: after listening carefully to the demonstration and a few minutes of practice, you’ll enjoy driving on the open fields and inside the forest trails.
Two people will share one sled: one as a driver and the other one as a passenger, and you will get the chance to swap places halfway through the tour, so everyone gets to experience the life of a dog musher, but also have time take all the photographs they want.
After your dog sledding ride and arriving back at the camp, you’ll get the chance to strengthen your bond with your newly made furry friends that had helped you through your adventure and give and receive all the cuddles that you can handle. And once you say farewell to your four-legged companions, you are invited into our lavvo (a traditional Sami tent), where you can learn a lot more about the dogs from our knowledgeable guides around a campfire and over some hot drinks and cake. And once you changed back to your normal clothes from the polar suits, and waved one last goodbye to the huskies, you’ll be driven back to the city with an experience of a lifetime behind you and spectacular photos to show for it!
Included:
- Transfers by bus from and back to Tromsø
- English-speaking guide
- Winter overall suit, boots, mittens, hat
- Hot drinks & cake
Meeting Time and Place: 8:00 or 09:50 at Scandic Ishavshotel Tromsø.
Option 2: Snowmobiling Daytime at Camp Tamok
Join us for an unforgettable snowmobile safari above the Arctic Circle! At our wilderness center Camp Tamok, only a 90-minute scenic drive from Tromsø you can experience the magical winter landscape and the fun of snowmobiling. Upon arrival, you will be directed to the equipment room, where you will be provided with warm clothes and shoes for the day. Here you can also leave anything you don’t need on the tour. We will go through our safety instructions and give practical demonstrations on how to drive the snowmobile.
You will drive in pairs with one driver and one passenger per snowmobile and have plenty of opportunities to switch places during the two-hour snowmobiling adventure between the snow-covered mountains to a frozen lake. Lake Finn marks the halfway point of our snowmobiling adventure and is a good place to take photos and play in the snow.
After driving back down the trail and parking the snowmobiles, we will serve you a hot meal in a traditional North Norwegian setting around the open fire in a reindeer herder’s tent. After relaxing and warming up, it is time to head back to Tromsø and tick another adventure off your bucket list!
Note: In order to drive the snowmobile, you need to be minimum 18 years old and hold a valid driver's license. Children below the age of 7 are not allowed. Each child must be accompanied by an adult.
Included:
- Transfers from and back to the city
- English-speaking guide
- Winter overall suit, boots, mittens, balaclava & helmet.
- A hot meal (warm stew) and hot drinks.
