Reindeer Sledding at Camp Tamok - Including Transport

The discount only applies to the Evening departure: Select "Evening Tour at 17:00" on the booking calendar and enjoy 20% discount!

Reindeer sledding has been practiced for thousands of years and is therefore deeply rooted in the traditions and way of life of the indigenous Sami people. It has been an integral part of Arctic livelihoods and transportation for generations, making it one of the oldest forms of transportation in this region. Immerse yourself in their culture on this authentic reindeer sledding experience at Camp Tamok.

  • Choose between a daytime or evening departure.

Depart from the city center of Tromsø by bus and embark on this exciting adventure. After a 90-minute relaxing bus journey, you will enter the remote area Tamokdalen where our wilderness camp is located.

Upon arrival at Camp Tamok, you will be warmly greeted by your guide and outfitted with the essential gear including thermal suits, boots, and gloves, ensuring comfort and warmth for the day ahead.
As our reindeer herd is some distance away from the dog yard, this activity will start with a short transfer by minibus. This cultural adventure includes a short reindeer sledding tour, storytelling about the fascinating Sami culture and feeding of the reindeer. There are about 5-6 reindeer in the camp.
After your encounter with the reindeer, you will return to Camp Tamok, where a warm meal awaits in one of our traditional lavvus (indigenous Sámi tent). With food and drinks served, gathered around the open fire, you will get the chance to warm up, relax and exchange experiences and stories with your fellow adventurers.

After the meal, it is time to board the bus and return to Tromsø, taking with you great memories of this authentic Arctic experience.
