Dog Sledding Daytime

Experience a unique way of transport in Northern Norway – a daytime dog sledding adventure through a snowy terrain, surrounded by Arctic mountain landscape and scenic fjords. Our team of huskies are eager to greet you and take you on a journey into the wilderness! You do not need any previous skills to mush your own husky team. All you need is reasonable physical health and an eagerness to try something new.

For this tour you will be picked up from the city center of Tromsø, from where you will be taken to our wilderness center in Camp Tamok, a 90-minute scenic bus drive away.

Upon arrival at the camp, we will first provide warm winter clothes and other required gear for your dogsledding activity. Our guides will then give thorough safety instructions and a practical demonstration on how to steer your own sled. Once you are ready, you will embark on your journey: Two people will share one sled and a dog team. One is the “musher” (driver) while the other can sit back and enjoy the ride. (If your group includes children, please kindly note, that each child must be accompanied by an adult.) You will get the chance to switch places midway during the dog sledding trail. Depending on snow conditions, we will spend up to 1 hour 30 minutes to complete it.

After the tour, you will be served a hot meal in a traditional Northern Norwegian setting around the open fire in a reindeer herder’s tent. After relaxing and warming up, your daytime sledding adventure has come to an end and it will be time to board back the bus to the city center of Tromsø.
