The Golden Train & Cable Car Roundtrip Ticket

Your journey starts at Åndalsnes station, where a train hosts will welcome you on board the Golden Train. As the train departs, you will pass through valleys, alongside rivers and waterfalls, and between steep mountain slopes. The train travels at a slow pace, allowing you time to observe the scenery and take photographs from your seat. Highlights include the dramatic rock face of Trollveggen, the elegant Kylling Bridge, and the Verma Waterfalls. These natural and engineering landmarks showcase the raw beauty and bold ambition that define this region of Norway. Throughout the journey, you can listen to captivating stories about the people who lived and worked among these mountains, drawing life from the rivers and challenging the heights around them. You’ll also learn about the railway’s important role during World War II, including the secret gold transports that inspired the name “The Golden Train.” The train makes a brief stop at Bjorli station, giving you time to step outside, breathe in the mountain air, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings before returning to Åndalsnes.

With this combination ticket, you can  - either before or after your train journey - stroll across the street from the train station to the lower Cable Car station "Romsdalsgondolen" and take the spectacular 7-minute cable car ride up to Nesaksla mountain, 708 meters above sea level. Enjoy the incredible 360-degree views, savour a meal or drink at Eggen Restaurant or explore several hiking trails at the top.  You can travel down again with the cable car at any time during our opening hours.
